The final day of an exceptionally long Players Championship week is underway, and it’s set to be a wild one at TPC Sawgrass on Monday afternoon. Anirban Lahiri maintains his lead at 9 under with three rounds in the books, but there are 13 players within three strokes of the top of the leaderboard and 24 within five as Round 4 begins.
The top of the leaderboard is full of players who have little experience with a tournament this big, though there are two in the top 10 entering Round 4 (Shane Lowry, Louis Oosthuizen) who are prior major champions that have certainly made fourth-round runs before. The watch is now on as we wait to see whether somebody changes the trajectory of their career or perhaps a star chases down the leaders to capture a massive $3.6 million payday at the first big-time event of 2022.

Viktor Hovland birdies No. 11, and he’s just two back all of a sudden. He’s now -9 on his last 20 holes, which is remarkable.
