Lakeshore Humane Society open adoption hours

The Lakeshore Humane Society, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk, will hold open adoption hours from noon to 3 p.m. Regardless of vaccination status, masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times on LHS grounds. Those who are ill, have tested positive for COVID, or have been near someone who has tested positive are asked to delay a visit. Tours of the facility will not be given. Individual appointments are available throughout the week. The Cat’s Meow Boutique will be open for purchases by the public. For details, call 716 672-1991.

Audubon Sunday Storytime

Children ages 2 to 8 and their caregivers are invited to a free nature-based storytime at the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Sunday admission is also free. Come for storytime and stay to explore the indoor Nature Play Area, live animals and exhibits. Participation is limited to 15. Reservations by the previous day are suggested. Call 716 569-2345.

Lakeshore Humane Society spaghetti dinner

This fundraiser is a drive-through only event from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Blessed Mary Angela Parish Social Center (324 Townsend St., Dunkirk). Dinners are $10 each and presale only. The menu includes spaghetti, meatballs, Italian bread, tossed salad and dessert. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.lakeshorehumanesociety.org/shop or at the Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk on Saturdays between noon to 3 p.m.

St. Joseph’s bingo

This free day of admission will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at these participating attractions: Audubon Community Nature Center, Busti Grist Mill, Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, Fenton History Center, Infinity Visual & Performing Arts, James Prendergast Public Library, Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum*, Lucille M. Wright Air Museum, Martz-Kohl Observatory, Marvin Community House*, National Comedy Center*, Northwest Arena, Reg Lenna Center for the Arts, Robert H. Fredonia College Symphony presents All-American Concert SUNY Fredonia Rockefeller Arts Center, King Concert Hall, 8 p.m. Masks are required. The performance opens with Assistant Conductor Andrew Wolffking conducting “Points of Departure” by Philadelphia composer Robert Moran. The world premiere of Dana Wilson’s Concerto for Jazz Piano and Orchestra will feature Head of Fredonia’s Jazz Studies Program, Nick Weiser, pianist, and the program will conclude with Leonard Bernstein’s dramatic and colorful Suite for Orchestra from “Candide.”

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Taize prayer service

328 Washington Ave., Dunkirk, this 40-minute service begins at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome from any parish or Christian denomination to this meditative experience blending song, silence and scripture.
