Family Promise of Midland is holding a dedication ceremony of the newly constructed “Kirby’s Playground” at 3 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of Family Promise of Midland’s Developing Dreams family transitional housing development located at 2908 W. Ohio Ave.
Kirby Collier, for whom the playground is named, was the daughter of Kim and Forrest Collier. Kirby succumbed to drug addiction at the age of 22 years a little over 6 years ago. Kim Collier served on the Family Promise of Midland Board of Trustees from 2016 through 2019.
It is hoped through this dedication and the bronze plaque that will adorn the playground, the dangers of drug use and the struggles of addiction will be brought to light to prevent such a tragedy occurring in another family. Family Promise of Midland is a nonprofit that assists families that are homeless.
