Small magnitude 3.0 earthquake 27 miles northwest of Fort Stockton, Texas, United States
3.0 quake 7 Dec 10:49 pm (GMT -6)
Just 13 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Fort Stockton, Pecos County, Texas, USA. The tremor was recorded late at night on Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, at 10:49 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Coyanosa (pop. 160, 20 miles away), Fort Stockton (pop. 8,600, 27 miles away), Pecos (pop. 9,500, 29 miles away), and Monahans (pop. 7,700, 45 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
