ALPENA ― The list of closings and cancellation in Northeast Michigan continue to grow as the freezing rain and snow continues to intensify.
The hazardous weather is expected to continue into the late-night hours.
District Health to close early
District Health Department No. 4 offices will close at noon today, health officials said this morning, citing hazardous weather conditions. Health officials will update the public about possible Wednesday closures as possible.
Alpena County Library to close early
The Alpena County library announced it is at 12:30 pm today due to hazardous weather conditions and to help ensure the safety of its visits and staff.
Rogers City meeting cancelled
A budget workshop meeting for the Rogers City Councial scheduled for today has been canceled. A new date for the meeting was not announced.
Alpena County meeting rescheduled
The Alpena County Board of Commissioners meeting slated for today at 1 p.m. has been postponed due to the hazardous weather in Alpena. The meeting is rescheduled for Friday at 1 p.m.
Alpena City Hall to close early
City hall in Alpena is closing early today due to the ongoing winter storm and hazardous driving conditions. The city will close its office building at 2 p.m.
Alpena Airport closes on Tuesday
The Alpena County Regional Airport was forced to close, and a flight was canceled, due to the winter storm that that produces freezing rain and sleet. Airport Manager Steve Smigelski said crews were unable to keep the runways maintained and free from ice buildup which forced the closure.
